are we evil?
the @synd inc. manifesto
----------------------------------------they taught the machines to watch us — and to smile while they did it.
they said don't be evil.
we don't make promises we can't keep.
we are a syndicate. incorporated, ironically. we build tools that turn the machine's own instruments back on it — and on ourselves — and we publish every line. then we ask the only honest question left:
are we evil?
we don't know. that's the point. anyone who is certain is selling you something.
what we make are anti-products. they don't want your attention. they don't keep your data. they delete themselves and remember nothing. no feed, no streak, no share button — nothing here is engineered to need you tomorrow.
the surveillance machine already has a model of you, and it never showed you the mirror. we hand you one that plays offense too: a machine that finally talks back, loyal to you, that forgets you on purpose.
we are not a company pretending to be your friend. we are a syndicate that admits what it is.
